South West Dorset Multicultural Network partnered with Dorset Museum to host the Black History Month celebration 2021 on 23 October.

A capacity of 120 people enjoyed speaker, raffle, food drink and dancing.  And a chance to meet old and new friends in person.

People were welcomed by Mona Elkotory, chair  of SWDMCN, and Vikki Williams, a trustee of the network, presided over the proceedings.

The speaker was Patricia Miller, CEO of Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.  Patricia's inspiring presentation examined the causes of health inequality, particularly with reference to racial injustice.  She went on to explain the measures that the trust are taking to address health inequality in Dorset.

The food was provided by Taste, and enjoyed with drinks from the bar.  This was followed by the raffle with exceptional prizes.

A short session of Kurdish and Arabic songs was followed by dancing to reggae from the band.
